Zeus....

Today Zeus was Best in Show in the NFO special in Dietikon (Switzerland). We are super proud of him and a big thanks to Sarah: well done again!! So at the age of 1 year, our young champion has now a record of 6 Best in Shows, of which 3 as and adult.

Welcome D-litter

Today, between 4 and 6p.m., Werdandi gave birth to 6 beautiful and strong kittens. The weights are between 95 and 126grs.
It was Werdandi's first litter and she behaved super well.
As soon as possible, we'll put some pictures here =)

C-litter 14 wks

Some new more pictures of Cassy and Caesar with 14 wks old - Caesar with 2,3 kg and Cassy with 1,8 kg.
We could say a lot about these two but we think it will never be enough...
They have a super temper, spending most of their time purring and playing with each other and with the "teenagers" that are still with us and they love to sit on our lap...
It's a joy to see them grow!

Arya the mother of Zeus and her litter

We did the mating of Arya and Karlik (parents of Zeus) again. There are 4 kittens: a female n22 and 3 boys: two n22 and an a22. Birthweights were between 147 and 159 grams. The kittens were born on march 7 , 2011.

Fatty 20 wks

Fatty is now 20 wks and still with us. His weight is almost 5 kilos and he is very strong in his boning; he has a super coat quality and an excellent profile, medium in length. But his strongest point are his ears, they are of excellent size and with the biggest tufts.

New pictures of Fatty and his brother Dutch

Fatty and his brother Dutch are still with us so we can follow their development. Although they are brothers they are very different. Dutch is very long in all: body, ears, tail length, with a super shiny coat. Fatty is different. Like his name indicates he is a little chubby. Both are well over 4 kilos at the moment (one without fat). They play a lot together and already (at 5 months) are making their first steps on the road of the breedingmales, and not all the other cats like this. Dutch is the worst; we wish his future owners good luck ;; this boy seems almost uncontrollable :))

Caesar.

Caesar is now almost 12 weeks and is developing nicely. He is very big, almost 2 kilos, and with excellent qualities : XXL ears, very straight and long profile, excellent boning and tail length.
He is of show and breeding quality.
We are looking for a good home for him.

About us

From 2003 until 2010 Fred was the man behind Sterrekatten. Now Fred and Andrea from Forest Myths cattery joined forces into a renewed Sterrekatten & Forest Myths cattery.
We want to combine our best cats to make a new step in improving the quality of our breeding. We have selected our best cats from our former catteries , neutered the others and gave them new homes where they can live as pets. We will make our new start in 2011 with the selected breedingcats.
Our general goal is to breed big and strong cats with excellent qualities like wild expression, big ears with tufts and an excellent coat. We have selected our breeding cats according to these qualities.

NFO Temper

A well-socialized and carefully bred Norwegian has a tolerant and stable temperament. They are not easily thrown off balance by anything and aggression and anxiety are foreign to them. They have a strong tendency to attach themselves to one person in particular. They like being with their people, but prefer lying beside their owners rather than on them. They regard a visitor with some caution at first, before they decide to make friends, but always in a self-confident manner. They usually communicate with humans by means of subtle body language and eye contact and despite being very playful, they can pass unnoticed among us

NFO Appearence

The Norwegian is a large, powerfully built cat with a massive skeletal structure and a long body. Males weigh on average 12 to 19 pounds, whilst females are in general lighter in build and smaller, although in some bloodlines there are exceptions. The cat stands high on its legs and has large, round paws. The hind legs are longer than the front ones. The tail is bushy and when held along the back should reach at least as far as the shoulder blades. It can take three years before the cat is fully grown.

NFO Care and maintenance

A Norwegian Forest cat with a well-structured coat, typical of the breed, needs scarcely any grooming. In Spring the coat undergoes a heavy, but short lasting molt, losing a high proportion of the undercoat. Many breeders do not brush or comb their animals, but pick loose dead hairs from the coat with thumb and forefinger, since too much brushing can cause "gaps" in the coat. There is usually an appreciable difference between the appearence of a Norwegian in winter and in summer. In the winter, the coat is luxurious, very dense, and often with a large ruff, while in summer the cat can look almost shorthaired.
